Associations and networks

CIMEA, in line with its own institutional goals, participates and collaborates in a national and international environment in the activities of different networks, associations and groups of experts active in the sector of higher education.


The ENIC and NARIC networks

Each European country has established a National Information Centre for foreign qualification recognition. Anyone who would like to see their qualifications recognized abroad can contact the information centre directly in the country they are preparing to move to for study or work.

The list of information centres in the different countries may be found at the following website: http://www.enic-naric.net.

The national information centres are linked in two European networks:

  • the NARIC network is promoted by the European Union;
  • the ENIC network is promoted by the European Council and UNESCO – European Region.

The NARIC - National Academic Recognition Information Centres network was founded in 1984 through an initiative of the European Commission which implemented a decision taken by the European Council of Education Ministers. It connects the information centres appointed by the national authorities of the member countries of the European Union. CIMEA participates in network activities, representing Italy since 1984 and contributing to its creation and development.

The ENIC - European Network of national Information Centres on academic recognition and mobility network has connected the national information centres appointed by the national authorities of the member countries of the European Cultural Convention of the Council of Europe and of UNESCO’s European Region since 1994. The network promotes foreign title recognition, international academic mobility and the implementation of the Lisbon Convention with regards to academic qualification recognition. CIMEA participates in network activities, representing Italy since 1994 and contributing to its creation and development.

APICE – Italian Professional Association of Credential Evaluators

25 years after the approval of the Lisbon Convention and 20 years after its ratification in Italy, in compliance with its principles, in 2022, the first national network of experts in evaluation and recognition of qualifications, APICE - the Italian Professional Association of Credential Evaluators, was born.

MERIC – Mediterranean Recognition Information Centres

The MERIC – Mediterranean Recognition Information Centres network was created in June, 2005, through an initiative of the intergovernmental Committee for the implementation of the Convention with regards to qualification recognition in Mediterranean Countries. Its mission is to promote the interchange of information between countries in the Mediterranean area, in collaboration with the centres of the ENIC and NARIC networks. CIMEA participates in network activities, representing Italy since 2005 and contributing to its creation.

AACRAO – The American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers

AACRAO is a non-profit, voluntary, professional association of more than 11,000 higher education professionals, based in Washington DC. Its mission is to provide professional development, guidelines, and voluntary standards to be used by higher education officials regarding the best practices in records management, admissions, enrollment management, administrative information technology, and student services.

AArU – The Association of Arab Universities

CIMEA collaborates with the Association of Arab Universities - AArU, participating in the development of international projects. The mission of the association is to develop connectivity and the opportunities for collaboration between universities in the Arab world.

Bologna Experts – European Higher Education Area

CIMEA participates in and is a member of the Bologna Experts for the growth and implementation in Italy of the policies connected to the European Higher Education Area.

CCUM – Conferenza dei Collegi Universitari di Merito

The “Conferenza dei Collegi Universitari di Merito” (CCUM) is an association that brings together and represents 52 University Colleges of Merit recognised and accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (Leg. Decree no. 68 of 29 March 2012, as amended and supplemented). As a trade association, the CCUM provides an independent and unified voice to support the cause of the University Colleges of Merit in their national and international relations with institutions, universities, civil society and the production industry.

CNVQR – Coordinamento Nazionale sulla Valutazione delle Qualifiche dei Rifugiati

The National Coordination on the Evaluation of Refugee Qualifications (CNVQR) is an informal network of experts from the administrative sector working within higher education institutions who are involved in qualification recognition, which exists to share evaluation techniques, problem cases, information sources and methodological practices in cases of evaluation of qualifications held by refugees, even in the case of missing or partial documentation.

CRUI – The Conference of Italian University Rectors

CIMEA has been collaborating with the Conference of Italian University Rectors – CRUI for several years with a view to supporting Italian universities in the development of internationalization policies. CRUI is the association of public and private Italian universities created in 1963.

Eurostudent

The main aim of the Eurostudent project is to compare data about the social dimension of higher education in Europe. The project concentrates on the socio-economic and living conditions of students, but also deals with international temporary mobility. The project aims at offering an in-depth and reliable comparison of the data supplied by the various countries participating in the investigation, through a centralized coordinating effort and a strong network between the partners in the project.

NACES – National Association of Credential Evaluation Services

NACES is an association of US-based, independent, nongovernmental organizations that provide credential evaluation services for individuals who have completed education outside the United States. NACES is committed to formulating and maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in the field.

ProDeJIP – Association for the Promotion and the Development of Joint International Programmes in higher education

ProDeJIP – Association for the Promotion and the Development of Joint International Programmes in higher education was created to support higher education institutions and countries in the promotion and development of joint international programmes in the higher education sector. It constitutes the first thematic association referring to the sector of joint programmes, thanks to the experience and the support of many institutions and expert coordinators of joint courses. CIMEA participates in the work of the association and is one of the founding members.

QF-EHEA – National Correspondents for Qualifications Frameworks

A work group called National Correspondents for Qualifications Frameworks (QF-EHEA) has been formed at the Council of Europe to facilitate the sharing of experiences and information in the development of National Qualifications Frameworks inside the area of European higher education. CIMEA has been a member of the work group since it was formed in 2012.

TAICEP – The Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals

TAICEP – The Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals brings together on an international level “credit evaluators”, that is to say experts in the area of higher education system comparability and qualification recognition. One of a kind, it was created to promote and support the daily work of the centres and recognition experts. CIMEA participates in the work of the TAICEP association and has been an official member since 2015.

UDUAL – The Association of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean

CIMEA collaborates with the Association of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean – UDUAL, participating in the development of international projects. The mission of the association is to develop connectivity and the opportunities for collaboration between universities in UNESCO’s Latin American and Caribbean Region.

UNIMED – Mediterranean University Union

CIMEA collaborates with the Mediterranean University Union – UNIMED, participatingin the development of international projects. The mission of the association is to promote university research and education in the Euro Mediterranean area and contribute to scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation.
