Countering Education Fraud
Cooperation, digital transformation and AI, research and instruments from a recognition of qualifications perspective
This leaflet presents some of the more recent activities to prevent and counter education fraud in education, with particular reference to the field of recognition of qualifications. The leaflet is structured around 4 main dimensions: cooperation, digitalisation and AI, research and resources.
The cooperation section covers international projects, relevant networks and cooperation activities in which CIMEA is active, including the recent establishment of the Centre for Preventing and Countering Education Fraud. The digital transformation and AI section outlines CIMEA’s ongoing digital transformation in qualification recognition, with a focus on the use of technologies to strengthen document integrity, authenticity verification and fraud prevention. It presents the development of blockchain-based verification services, digital tools supporting authenticity checks and document validation, and ongoing research into the use of AI to assist credential evaluators in identifying anomalies and potential indicators of fraud. The research section reports the latest publications, monographs, book chapters and dissemination articles.
Finally, the part on resources presents trainings, databases and useful references on the topic.
